Netflix: Wet Hot American Summer

Social Campaign - RFP Response

Wet. Hot. Social. American. Social. Hot.
Netflix wanted to tap into the enthusiastic cult audience of the 2001 movie "Wet Hot American Summer" to grab their attention and turn on new viewers to their new streaming series prequel, "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp".

The following are concepts included in a new business pitch to Netflix.

Breaking through the digital noise by pre-releasing the series in full-on analog style, with a limited-edition VHS tape, distributed to the remaining independent video stores in the US. It's a "golden ticket" scavenger hunt for die-hard fans.

Continuing on to the Netflix platform, viewers have the option of watching the series in "VHS Mode" a completely different viewing experience filled with random glitches and portions "accidentally taped over" with scenes from The Love Boat. Thanks Dad.

Pre-seeded familiar quotes from the movie are done 80's style, sharable and shirt-able to stoke fan's interest and remember what they loved about the movie.

Online we finally release the entire series... in emoji form on Twitter. An experience for die hard fans that is as fun, funny and obnoxious as the series itself.

Famous scenes and themes from the movie and series are gamified in 8-Bit Atari style and distributed on social and X Box Live Marketplace.
